Our First Ever Awards Night
This year’s inaugural awards function was held at in Keilor Park in the state of Victoria on 9thDecember, 2018. It was attended by about 100 guests. Eight Islamic schools from around the nation made it to the finals after preliminary rounds of nomination and judging.
The Chief Guest at the function was Mohammed Naseer – a former SRC member himself and the CEO/Founder of Secure Property Investments (SPI). He talked about the crisis of leadership in the Islamic communities and the need to step up the efforts to identify and train potential leaders. He acknowledged the organisers gallant effort in filling the void in promoting and giving a good platform to student leaders and stated that he was willing to sponsor such worthy events in future as well.
A special guest speaker at the event – Mubashir Mohammed – a former student leader and the CEO of Platina Wealth expressed his joy at the formation of AMYLA for the student leaders coming out of Islamic schools. He said that there was a need to take leadership seriously so that the Islamic communities in and around Australia could greatly benefit in the future.
The President of Australian Muslim Youth Leadership Association – Br Mohammed Azim spoke of the dire need of leadership in Muslim community. He said that there exists an urgency to have young leaders amidst us who are role models for our vulnerable youngsters. He further elaborated that AMYLA is going to be the force in the future to train the SRC members in schools and also for those who have left school. He invited all Islamic schools around Australia to participate in the events of the association so that student leaders get recognised, trained and become of utility in the Australian community.
AMYLA comprises a group of enthusiastic educators who have teamed with some businesses to recognise the efforts of our current student leaders, provide motivation and lifelong association for them.

This year will be our first Annual Islamic Schools Student Leadership & Service Awards Night, which will be held in early December. We have already sent emails to all Islamic schools around Australia asking them whether they will be keen to nominate their student leaders who have demonstrated exceptional leadership this year.
